Journaling, how to…

Written by Jo Lee | 1st November 2021

A quick guide to journaling.

But what is journaling?

For me it’s a moment to spend with my Father God, just us, together, and simply write down what He speaks to me.

So how?

I love getting my favourite pen and my journal, (I prefer paper without lines so I can be creative as I write), find a quiet place, sometimes have worship music playing, and welcome Father to speak to me.

Wait.

Then as I enjoy being in His presence I just write down what comes in my head, not really thinking too much what it is until the words stop.  Some people like to draw as well as write, be creative, be colourful, be you, there are no limitations here!

Don’t stress, don’t overthink it, when He speaks just write.

Enjoy the moment together.  He loves it more than you do.

I then take time to read slowly and absorb what I’ve written, praying into what I’ve heard.

Personally this just blows me away when I do this, when I hear His heart, His voice for me, it changes, focusses my thinking and challenges me.

It’s easy to discourage and discount yourself after reading it back, if this is the case it’s a choice now, believe or not believe what Father says and keep remembering to listen to His voice not anyone else’s!

‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.’ - Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

Spending time with Father - this changes everything.

Enjoy.
