We Have A New Name!

Written by Aminah Boot | 7th December 2024

This month we are blessed to learn from Hosanna Wong an author, speaker and spoken word artist who helps everyday people know Jesus for real. Whenever I listen to her, she encourages me heaps, I feel strengthened, empowered and provoked to step into my purpose right now and right here by the power of the Holy Spirit. Reminding us through poetry what God says about us - WE HAVE A NEW NAME!

An anthem of confidence, purpose and freedom for each of us as his children who he bought with the precious blood of his son Jesus Christ. An inspiring re-telling of scripture reminding each and every one of us YOU’RE A DAUGHTER OF A KING AND YOU HAVE PURPOSE!

We are all in different seasons in life and no matter what is happening all around us, it’s good to be reminded that, we are all Significant and carry Gods presence. This is because the bible says in

1 John 4:4 …..Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. We have been created to transform the world.

We can’t hurry seasons Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says there is a time and season for everything under heaven… God works in seasons even right now, we are in winter you can’t stop the cold, snow or rain BUT, you can choose how you’re going to go through this season of winter and hope that spring is coming. If you’re in one season and all your hope is in the next season, then you won’t get strength for the season you are in. God wants us to look at the NOW and embrace the process by pressing into him, yielding and surrendering to his promises his spoken over our life.

WE ARE WOMEN OF PURPOSE!

In this month of December, there is so much going on around us and it can be very busy, hectic with Christmas preparation and so much more BUT, God wants us to know that, WE ARE LOVED by him and everything that comes our way goes through the hands of our loving Father who is deeply in love with us. We can see this in his word again and again….

ROMANS 5:8 says But God shows his love for us in that, while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

ISAIAH 49:15-16 He says see I have engraved you on the palms of my hands your walls are ever before me.

PSALMS 139:18 Gods thoughts towards us if I should count them, they are more than the sand and lastly, PSALMS 56:8 He keeps track of all our sorrows, he collects all our tears in his bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

WOW WHAT AN AMAZING FATHER AND GOD WE HAVE!

Take a moment, reflect on these truths may they sink in your heart, mind and position us to go deeper in our faith in this season. As we journey together discovering more about how we are designed with purpose for purpose.

LET’S WATCH THE VIDEO TOGETHER - HOSANNA WONG…

LET’S DO THIS

As you have been listening to this teaching:

  1. It’s time to embrace who God says you are.

Is there anything stopping you from fully accepting these truths? Take a minute in his presence and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Asking for forgiveness where we have believed a lie and reminding ourselves that we are his Masterpiece Ephesians 2:10, He calls us His art, handmade, purposed and fashioned for good things. God calls me his child Galatians 3:26 and Romans 5:8 God says we are greatly loved and created with purpose for purpose.

  2.  Who have you allowed to define who you are?

Maybe you have allowed circumstances, your work, people, family members, situations and generally life define you. Now you call your self unworthy, rejected, ugly, forgotten, impure, lonely and disgusting. It’s time to break off all these lies of you and not give power to the past anymore. Whose voice have you allowed to name you? These voices we are constantly hearing its suffocating, this air of constant critique and comparing . let’s shake this off and spend more time in his presence and speak the truth over ourselves.

  3. Let us go back to the source which is the word of God and not the people we have allowed to represent God to us.

The actual, literal, tangible words that God has spoken over us and remind ourselves of how God sees us and who we really are. We have a new name given by him.

He calls us Friend John 15:15, He says we are Chosen 1 Thessalonians 1:4, we are His messenger to the world Acts 1:8. He calls our body a temple, He calls it the residence of Holy Spirit Corinthians 6:19, In John 8:36 He calls us free, free, indeed.

  4. These are all different names not the names we are used to listening to and in the journey to discover who we really are, in the battle to uncover the truths of ourselves, we have learned something new about our name today.

Our name is not the name the world calls us

Our name is not the name the past calls us

Our name is not even the name my own mirror calls me

PAUSE IN HIS PRESENCE LET THIS SINK IN

  5. Let’s choose from today forward to answer to our only new name given by our father God as we look in the mirror of his word. (Meditate on these scriptures)

We are loved, wanted, created with purpose, brand new, child of God, greatly loved, Gods temple, Gods messenger and free - these are the names that we should respond too. The enemy has no power here.

Perfect love has named us WOMEN DESIGNED WITH PURPOSE FOR PURPOSE.

Something More:

Take a little more time and listen to this song as you reflect on your own life and the things that have spoken to you, the things you need to lay down at the father’s feet and the things you need to pick up again so that we can walk in our purpose in him.
